Cape Town

This past weekend we took a mini-vacation to Cape Town.  While there we did quite a few things and took many pictures. The best way for me to share those with you all will be to break our trip down into several posts.

We did fly directly from Joburg to Cape Town on Thursday at 7:50a.m.  I know I don't look to excited to be going on a vacation, but we had gotten up at 3:30a.m. and I was really feeling it!

The boys watching the planes!

Once we got to Cape Town, we picked up our rental car and were off! We drove about an hour outside of the city to an area that is home to several wineries. And then back to Cape Town to check in to the hotel. We stayed at the Bantry Bay Luxury Suites! The suite was really nice. Wide open room for Jayce to roam around!!  After we were settled in our room, we went for a stroll along the beach and an early dinner.

Friday, we got up early and headed to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden.  We spent our morning there, while the sun was still low. At around noon, we left the gardens and headed to the aquarium.  It was located in an area called the V&A Waterfront.  While at the aquarium, we were able to see tons of sea life that is often found in the Indian and Atlantic Oceans. We even got to watch the feeding of the penguins, sting rays, and sea turtles.  After that we headed for a walk on the waterfront there and to a sushi restaurant in the area.  Once we were full, we headed out to Table Mountain for a sunset ride on the cable way.

On Saturday, we had planned to just kick back and relax on the beach! And that is just what we did!! Boy the water was cold though, Michael was the only one brave enough to get in the water more than just his feet! After we were all sweaty and sandy, we decided to clean up and head to Hout Bay.  We were told this was the place to go to enjoy fish and chips! After our visit to Hout Bay, we loaded back up in the car to go see Kalk Bay. Both were really incredible.

On Sunday, we again had an early flight and were really sad to be leaving Cape Town.  Jayce was really good on the flights to and from Cape Town, which really made the trip all the better! He slept both times.

Check back soon for the posts that will include the photos from everywhere we went in Cape Town!!!
